The UvA offers intensive for-credit modules with small groups, a
combination of self-study and live sessions, and comprehensive feedback on
assignments to help you get the most out of your course. Join the UvA
winter school for an academically challenging, dynamic and inviting classroom
environment that doesn’t shy away from asking big questions, confronting norms,
and seeking productive and creative responses to today’s problems. We offer courses in a number of topics, but I wanted to
draw your attention to these three in particular, suitable for students of
various levels and degree programmes:

Anthropocene: Ecologies, Tensions, Futures:
- The “Human Age” is a proposed
geological and cultural epoch, marked by wide-scale human
intervention in the natural world The tensions are more widespread
than ecosystem destruction: the
Anthropocene touches
on the core of how people do business, lead their daily lives, and think
about our common future. This graduate-level online winter course will bring together
passionate participants and expert lecturers from diverse fields to
discuss the implications of this age.

Bootcamp: Ethnography and Design
- Throughout the online bootcamp, participants will
have the opportunity to experiment with fast ethnography in a
collaborative setting, quickly turn findings analyses, design
and test a prototype, and pitch their recommendations. In the
live sessions, participants will receive daily assignments, work through
questions, and learn vital new skills.

Political Economy
- Our world is at an important
crossroads: it is now more visible than ever how fragile states can be
within global markets when confronting the major challenges of today.
Focusing on themes such as trade, development, inequality, and
environment, this programme provides participants
with a deeper understanding of our rapidly globalizing and ever-changing
world.
